* Head of Small Relief Agency Blasts Red Cross "Money Pit" *
We speak with Richard Walden, president and founder of Operation USA, a Los
Angeles-based relief agency. In an Op-Ed in the Los Angeles Times this week
titled "The Red Cross money pit," Walden writes that despite, "Giving so
high a percentage of all donations to one agency (The Red Cross) that
defines itself only as a first-responder and not a rebuilder is not the
wisest choice."

Re: Head of Small Relief Agency Blasts Red Cross "Money Pit"
Thu, October 6, 2005 - 3:43 PMIt's worse than that. The Red Cross admits they put over 80% of the funds sent to help the 9/11 victums into the "liberty fund" an anti-terrorist slush fund now being used internationally to fight the war on terorism. They pulled that off by denying, with the help of FEMA, the claims of potential long term lung and health problems from asbestus and other toxic material breathed by hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers in the weeks that followed. The Red Cross is SHADY. Always has been, from the Russian revolution to this they have had politicial agends that usually clash with thier public intent. Keep it grass roots! -

Sun, October 9, 2005 - 12:44 AMIt's a shame that people find it hard to discern who to donate to and just give to one organization that has had good PR.
I'd rather give to the Burner groups setting up shelters, or to the Waveland Cafe run by the North Carolina rainbow community.
